AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco, an American professional soccer player plays as a striker for San Diego Wave FC (NWSL), which is the highest level of women's soccer in United States. She also co-captained the United States women's soccer team from 2018 to 2020 alongside Megan Rapinoe and Carli Lloyd. [8][98][9] Morgan was drafted as the number one player in the Western New York Flash's 2011 WPS Draft shortly after she had graduated from the University of California, Berkeley. Morgan played for the California Golden Bears. Morgan made her professional debut there , and was a key player in the team's win of the league championship. Morgan 22, then 22 years old, was the youngest national player at the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011, where she was second. Morgan scored the game-winning goal against Canada in the semi-final match during the 2012 London Olympics. She was able to finish 2012 with 21 goals and 28 assists, joining Mia Hamm as the only American woman to score 20 goals and give 20 assists within the same calendar year , making her the sixth and the youngest U.S. player to score 20 goals in a single season. She was then awarded the U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year and was a FIFA World Player of the Year finalist. Morgan helped the United States win their titles in the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups, where she was named to the Dream Team for both tournaments and also won the Silver Boot in 2019.
