Kat Dennings was born on June 13, 1986 in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania and was given the name Katherine Victoria Litwack. Ellen Dennings, Kat's mom is a journalist and speech therapist. She has a father named Gerald. Gerald is a professor in a prestigious college and molecular biologist. Dennings is youngest of five children and grew as a child in the family of a Jewish family. Dennings attended a school that did not follow the traditional curriculum and did not attend a homeschool. The decision to go homeschooled was made because she was a keen actor from an early age. Dennings was able to finish her high school studies at 14 years old. Already, she was doing commercials when she was at the age of 9. Following high school graduation, the family relocated into Los Angeles to pursue acting. Kat Dennings, as she was known at the time was a student at the time, and began to audition. Her first role as an actor was with the HBO series Sex and the City in 2000. Then, she starred in WB's sitcom "Sex and the City".
